The Castle of Falconara , flanked by a beautiful and exotic palm-grove,stands on a rocky promotory overlooking the sea.

This harmonious and picturesquebuilding was built in different epochs.The most ancient part is the large square tower built in the 14th century,used by the previous owners to breed the falcons for hawking, hence it's name.

We do not know exactly when the tower was built,but the historical data suggest that Ugone di Santapau, descendant of the noble family Adamara, was given it by King Martino d'Aragona by dcree on the 18th october 1392, as a recompense for his support against adversary factions.

In 1540 Ambrogio di Santapau Branciforte,became the owner,and he was given the title , Prince of Butera.

After several successions,in the beginning of 1800, the Castle came to count Wilding, a german officer, as a dowry of his wife,Caterina Branciforte,daughter of the lastprince of Butera. At his death, his brother Ernesto inherited the Castle: but he, during the 1848 risings decided to return to his native land and sold the Castle to Baron Roberto Chiaramonte Bordonaro.

The Castle is an ideal place for those who loves the sea,open horizons and the cultural itineraries of ancient Sicily.The Castle is 45 km from Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples. 50 km from Caltagirone. 55 km from Piazza Armerina and the Roman mosaics. 100 km from Noto.

The Castle can accommodate maximum 16 guests.

You can also order halfboard or fullboard for all guests.
At your service will be 2 waiters + 1 cook for the week.

Half board request : 55 Euro pr.pax
Full board request : 90 Euro pr.pax

We also organise your events in this Castle Falconara.
Minimum 30 pax and maximum 700 pax for dinner.

Villa Chiaramonte Bordonaro was built in 1893, it's one of the most outstanding works of Ernesto Basile where Art Nouveau style is interstanding with moorish motif.
It's creation was a desire of Baron Gabriele Chiaramonte Bordonaro,senator of the kingdom of Italy.

The Villa is a green oasis of centuries old trees and exotic plants in the town centre.
It's reception rooms , rich with golden stuccos, Murano chandeliers,valuable pictures and purple silk tapestries, still retain their old charm.
